Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District manages two historic cemeteries in the Huntington, WV area. Neither of these cemeteries are active for burials.
Guyandotte Cemetery
Guyan Street, Huntington, WV
Guyandotte Cemetery is a small cemetery located in the Guyandotte section of Huntington. It is also known as Guyandotte M.E. Church Cemetery.
This historic cemetery is small with approximately 78 marked graves and numerous unmarked graves. It is no longer active for burials. However, it does play a vital part in our area’s history. The Guyandotte area was a pivotal part of the Revolutionary War in our area and many graves date back to the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras. The first known burial was that of Charles Wellington who died June 6, 1817.
The cemetery is located at the eastern end of the Fifth Avenue bridge over the Guyandotte River.

A tall monument (pictured here) is inscribed with the words “Erected October 19, 1929 on the 148th Anniversary of the Surrender of Yorktown by the Cabell County Court under auspices of D.A.R. and S.A.R. to commemorate the soldiers of the Revolutionary War who lie buried here and elsewhere in Cabell County and whose achievements are the priceless heritage of the American People.”
Pat’s Branch Cemetery
Pat’s Branch Cemetery is located on the property that now belongs to Special Metals in east Huntington, WV. This is a historic cemetery only with no burials. There are an estimated 43 memorials dating back to 1854.
Pat’s Branch Cemetery can only be seen by appointment.
