Get ready to explore, hunt and celebrate the Halloween season with the GHPRD Golden Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, taking place October 26–31!
Beginning Monday, October 26, GHPRD will release two clues each day via Facebook to help participants track down a very special Golden Pumpkin hidden somewhere within a GHPRD park or property. Clues will continue through Saturday, October 31 — or until the Golden Pumpkin is found.
Whether you’re a seasoned scavenger-hunt enthusiast or just looking for a fun reason to get outside this Halloween, participants are encouraged to explore GHPRD properties, follow the clues and enjoy the hunt.
The lucky finder who discovers the Golden Pumpkin and returns it to the park district office will win a $500 cash prize, generously sponsored by Brandi Wiles Davis, Paris Signs, Stewart’s Original Hotdogs, an anonymous donor, and Captain Jalen.
And this year, the winner will receive an extra special keepsake. Marrowbone Glassworks has created a stunning, hand-blown golden glass pumpkin for the winner to keep forever.
The Golden Pumpkin hunt is a fun way for the community to get outdoors, explore GHPRD properties and celebrate Halloween together.

The Rules
Be Safe: Please don’t put yourself in harm’s way while searching.
No Trespassing: The Golden Pumpkin will never be hidden in a location that requires unlawful entry.
Be Respectful: No digging, tearing, or damaging property or landscaping to find the pumpkin.
Eligibility: GHPRD employees and their family members are not eligible to participate.
